10 Tips For Booking the Cheapest Hotel in 2022

One of the aspects of our trip that we are looking forward to is our hotel stay. But, consider this: wouldn’t it be better if you could find a wonderful hotel for a low price and not have to sacrifice your stay? The hotel sector is one of those industries where price fluctuation is widespread. For the same amount of days, two people can reserve the same room in the same hotel, but one will pay less.
While one individual may have to pay more for the same service, this industry places a strong emphasis on the concept of ‘best price,’ because prices differ from one consumer to the next, even when the service provided remains the same.
For some travellers, booking hotels is a chore that takes too much time and effort. It’s only a place to crash before going on to the next location.
Finding the best deal is part of the fun of travelling for us. We’ll assume you can relate because you’re looking for ways to save money.
The amount of money you save will be determined by how much work you put into the hotel reservation process. There is no mysterious procedure to follow or code to decipher. All it takes is a little research and the correct knowledge.

1. Use credit cards that offer generous travel cashback rewards
Begin with the basics and obtain a credit card that provides you with cashback every time you make a purchase.
If you travel frequently, whether domestically or internationally, using a travel rewards credit card is one of the simplest and most reliable methods to save money on hotel reservations.
It appears to be quite straightforward, and it is. You’re going to book the hotel anyhow, so why not do it with a credit card that gives you 1.5 per cent cashback (or comparable points)?
So, if you’re booking a Parramatta hotel, for example, it’s better to use a credit card that offers travel rewards and doesn’t charge international transaction fees. Simply use your credit card to make any purchase, including gas, groceries, and internet shopping.
Build up your points/cashback balance and then use the cash/points from your travel rewards card to book flights, trains, and hotels, among other things.
Plus, you won’t have to pay any foreign transaction fees on purchases, which is the card’s main selling point — the cashback is just a bonus.
For frequent travellers, travel rewards credit cards are a no-brainer.
2. Register yourself
Many hotel booking services require you to register in order to receive the most up-to-date bargains and hotel news. It’s especially convenient when you get a discount just after signing up. Some websites also give you points for booking a hotel.
If you have accumulated enough points, you can convert them to real money, which you can use to get a hotel discount. If you don’t want to receive emails after your trip is over, you can always unsubscribe once you’ve made your reservation.
3. Take a look at SnapTravel
This site is perfect for hotels in the United States. SnapTravel delivers hotel offers to your phone or Facebook account. Simply enter your travel dates and the place you’ll be visiting, and they’ll bring you the best rates available.
With them, you can save up to 50% off the cost of a hotel. They’re a useful, under-the-radar service that’s helped me save a lot of money. Google normally lists them in their results, but this isn’t always the case, so it’s best to double-check.
4. With Roomer, you can purchase someone else’s reservation
When individuals can’t go on a trip and can’t cancel their reservations, hotels list these rooms on Roomer and sell them at a discount to recoup some of their costs. This is a website I’ve never used, but I’ve heard wonderful things about it.
Hotel rates are more consistent than airline rates, and they fluctuate less. We wouldn’t spend hours looking through hotel websites or days researching flight fares like other folks do. We’d spend no more than 30 minutes looking for a motel.
5. Join the loyalty programs at Booking.com and Hotels.com
After 10 bookings, Hotels.com will give you a free night, and Booking.com will give you a 10% discount. They were quite beneficial. Before you book with them, sign up for their loyalty programs!
6. Use AAA or AARP reduced rates
If you are a member of the AARP or AAA, you can obtain discounted prices. A fun fact about the AARP is that anyone may join. I’m a member of the organization. They provide fantastic travel benefits (including deals on hotels and British Airways flights). The membership is certainly worth it.

9. Check prices with hotels directly
This is where you have to put in some effort. If you actually want to book the cheapest hotels, you must do some research to find the finest bargains.
Once you get a ballpark figure from a booking search engine, contact any hotel you like the appearance of. Always use the hotel’s direct phone number to contact them.
Hotel booking search engines are fantastic tools, but they are bound by the terms of the contract they have with the hotel.
If you phone the hotel directly, you may be able to get complimentary parking, breakfast, a room upgrade, or even a lesser rate at the discretion of the hotel manager.
10. When you book ahead of time, you get a free cancellation
Are you a well-prepared traveller?
If that’s the case, start looking into hotel pricing well ahead of time to see if you can get a stay at a price that you think is a good deal and includes free cancellation.
A room has two rates when booked using a hotel search engine:
- A discounted rate that is non-refundable
- In addition, there is a greater rate for cancellations that are free
Booking with free cancellation in advance isn’t necessarily going to get you a cheaper price but it is going to give you price security and flexibility.
We’ll get into last minute bookings later but for now consider that booking a free cancellation room at a great price is the best way to guarantee you don’t lose out closer to the time if you have to change your dates.
