When water temperatures exceed 33 degrees Celsius in July and August, scuba diving and snorkeling are like a hot tub. This draws green turtles and blue-spotted manta rays to the region.

Diving lets you see marine creatures and shipwrecks. The Zenobia, a domestic ferry that sunk in 1980, is a famous diving site.

Mount Olympus lies in the chilly, forested Troodos Mountains. Due to deep woodlands, this is one of the few places to escape the sun’s heat. Kakopetria’s stone-paved center plaza and medieval district are examples of the former.

Autumn

September is the quietest month because local children return to school and visitors leave. The dry weather, nice temperature, and clear sky should remain. Newborn loggerhead and green turtles leave their eggs in September. Lara Bay’s beautiful scenery will blow your mind.

Cyprus celebrates its independence from Britain on October 1. Festivals, parades, and military displays mark this federal holiday.

As October winds down, the first raindrops have fallen. The arid terrain finally receives some rain, reviving nature. This is when most firms begin winter preparations, so hotel deals are likely.

Winter

November and December temperatures seldom dip below 10 and sometimes exceed 18 degrees. Extreme water sports enthusiasts may enjoy the sea throughout the winter when storms produce tremendous waves.

The scenery is less parched and crusty, and there’s a pleasant wind. As usual, Cypriots celebrate Christmas and New Year’s with joy and gusto. End of November, the island is decorated with Christmas trees and hundreds of street sellers sell trinkets, souvenirs, syrup-soaked sweets, and grilled meats.

Epiphany, or “Ta Fota” in Cypriot, is an important Orthodox Christian celebration celebrated on January 6. The Bishop throws the holy cross into the Mediterranean, and divers recover it. This is a festival highlight.
