Donda:

Donda, American rapper Kanye West‘s tenth studio album, was distributed by Def Jam Recordings and released on August 29, 2021, through GOOD Music. It was his final album under the imprint. In the summer of 2021, West recorded a large portion of the music at various places, including Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium and Wyoming’s Bighorn Mountain Ranch. The Sunday Service Choir, Jay-Z, Playboi Carti, Lil Baby, the Weeknd, Vory, Kid Cudi, DaBaby, Baby Keem, Marilyn Manson, and other vocalists contribute to it as guests; vocals from Chris Brown were also present on the album before it was updated. Its production was mostly overseen by West, BoogzDaBeast, Dem Jointz, Mike Dean, and Ojivolta.

God’s Country, the original title of Donda, was supposed to be released in July 2020, but there were a number of delays and ongoing changes made to the tracks and the tracklist before the album’s official release. The style of the album, which mixes trap and drill, has been variously categorised as hip hop, gospel, progressive rap, and pop. With darker lyrical content and less percussion use than West’s earlier works, it is both minimal and maximalist. Religion, Kanye’s separation from Kim Kardashian, and Donda West, whose first name is utilised in the title, are some of the topics covered.

When Donda was released, Kanye West claimed that Universal Music Group had done so without getting his permission; the record company refuted his claim. The lead single, “Hurricane,” was released in September 2021, while “Believe What I Say” and “Off the Grid” were also released in November. Music critics gave the album a variety of opinions, with the majority of them disagreeing with its cohesion. While many critics questioned the lengthy runtime, some saw an improvement over West’s earlier work and appreciated the composition. Nevertheless, Donda was hailed as one of the best albums of 2021 by various magazines, and it was nominated for Album of the Year and Best Rap Album at the 64th Grammy Awards, where “Jail” and “Hurricane” both took home prizes for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Album.

On Apple Music and Spotify, Donda had the most number of first-day streams for an album in 2021. It was West’s eighth straight number-one single on the US Billboard 200, tying Eminem’s previous mark. It was the first number-one album for West in a second country and peaked at number one in 18 other territories, including Australia, France, and the UK. The album has received gold and platinum certifications from Music Canada (MC) and Recorded Music NZ (RMNZ), respectively, in addition to the platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in the United States.

Due to their individual accusations of bigotry and sexual assault, DaBaby and Marilyn Manson stirred up controversy among spectators. The Stem Player, published in October 2021, allowed users to remix the songs and contribute new ones, and on November 14th, a deluxe edition was made available.

Praise God:

On his tenth studio album, Donda, American rapper Kanye West includes the song “Praise God” (2021). For Kanye West’s Praise God song, two more American rappers, Travis Scott and Baby Keem, contribute uncredited vocals. The CD bearing West’s name also features extra vocals from her late mother, Donda West. Background:

The “Praise God” beat was first produced in early 2020 by 30 Roc and Zentachi.

A Spinz 808 pattern sampled from a Japanese song made up the original beat. At the first listening party in Atlanta, the sample was changed to a choir sample, and by the second listening party, Zen-tachi and 30 Roc had removed all of the drums and 808s they had supplied. Despite the fact that the majority of the music was wholly different from the original melody that served as the song’s basis, 30 Roc and Zen-tachi were given producer credit for it. Machiko Ryu and Kazuhiko Kat, two Japanese music producers, shared authorship credit for the original song that was sampled.

It is still gospel, even at its worst. How can gospel music be listened to by those who don’t often do so and still convey the message? Let’s work to increase the hipness of gospel music. With all of the songs there sounding like hip hop, that is what we were looking for.

A number of times before West Donda album’s July 18, 2020 release, the song was added to the track listing. West gave the song its debut performance on July 22, 2021 at the Donda listening event. The music underwent some modifications during the subsequent listening session on August 6. Which included the addition of more organs and the restructuring of the percussion. Travis Scott provided the hook and the opening verses for the first preview. The hook was fully replaced by West’s singing in the second version. The parts of Scott’s words were left out and filled in by West. Keem posted the following on Twitter in reference to his partnership with West:”You are a god and a metaphor. I’ll always be grateful for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Writing music and lyrics:

In the song “Praise God,” West, Scott, and Baby Keem thank Jesus for everything He has done for them. The poem “Speech to the Young: Speech to the Progress-Toward,”. The first line of the song is Qouted. “Say to them, say to the “down-keepers,” “sun-slappers,” “self-soilers,” and “harmony-hushers,”.  “Even if you are not ready for the day, it cannot always be night.”

It focuses on those who have negative outlooks on life as  daily reminder of all they have to be thankful . West begins the chorus with the words.  “We gon’ praise our way out the cemetery, dawg / Livin’, speakin’, thank God .  Walkin’ out the graveyard back to life / I serve, heed your word / See with a sight.

His mother adds “Into the night” to the end of the line to complete it. In the chorus, West emphasises making a change in his life and placing his confidence. The trust in God to do what is right, which gives him a more positive outlook on things. Each of Scott’s lyrics includes a discussion of his connection with Christ. “Y’all treat your Lord like renter’s insurance, you know what I mean,” raps Keem in the song’s closing lines. He compares those who don’t trust Christ’s power until they’re forced to rely on Him as  result of something dreadful.  Which is occurring to them to those who don’t trust  their renter’s insurance until they are in need of payment.
